LOCALS MONTH AT IRUKANDJI EXTENDED!

For 7 years, August has been Locals Month at Irukandji.
Sadly, we had only a short time of Locals Month before COVID sent the Hunter/Newcastle into lockdown.

SOOOOO… we have a special for you: BUY NOW 1/2 price- and VISIT LATER in 2021.

Since moving to the new location in Anna Bay in 2020, it’s been great having so many locals coming to enjoy the warm water and sandy beaches of our lagoon and try out the newest experiences on offer, like our tropical snorkel and tawny nurse shark encounter.

This year in 2021, it’s even more important in the current crisis to say thank you to the locals who have been showing their support through these turbulent times, and for first time visitors to check out the new aquarium.

This year we’re offering 50% off entry AS WELL as the Shallows Encounter! That means locals from the Port Stephens area can have an incredible close-up experience with our sharks and rays, feeding and petting them from inside the shallow water of the lagoon for $7.50

For us, it’s a great chance to meet all the people who call Port Stephens home, to show them what we are all about and help spread the conservation message for our local beaches. Right now it’s more important than ever to get the word out about conserving our local marine environment as we rally together to support saving our marine park sanctuaries.

HOW TO BOOK THIS GREAT DEAL

We are very excited to meet all the friendly locals, share our stories and our dreams.

WHAT’S HAPPENING WHILE WE ARE COVID CLOSED

A lot of people have been sending us messages of support and asking about our animals while we are in lockdown. We can’t thank you all enough for your kind words and encouragement, it really does mean the world to us!

We have our dedicated Fish Keepers continuing to provide care for our animals. They are all still being fed and loved and the staff are continuing with their conditioning and keeping up enrichment activities for them. We have at least one meber of our team in the water every single day.

In Sea Shelter we have a dedicated team of volunteers coming in and cleaning the enclosures for our turtles and giving them the care they need. Our volunteers, and some helpful locals, have been making sure their diets are varied by foraging for food when needed. We also have some gardens growing food which our hardworking team are making sure continues to flourish.

All of this while adhering to Covid Safe Guidelines and following the relevant Government advice. We are very lucky that so much of our work space is outside and such a big area makes it easy to socially distance…..although we aren’t sure the Eagle Rays have heard about that!

Our reception is not manned at the moment but our staff are working from home to answer emails and messages if you have any enquiries just drop us a line.

Please everybody stay safe. See you on the other side of lockdown.LOVE NSW
